Tour Detail
Bua Tong Sticky Waterfall (also known as Nam Phu Chet Si) is a unique natural attraction located in the Namtok Bua Tong-Nam Phu Chet Si National Park, approximately 60 km north of Chiang Mai. This waterfall is renowned for its distinctive limestone formations that allow visitors to climb up the waterfall without slipping, earning it the nickname “Sticky Waterfall.
The waterfall’s limestone rocks are rich in calcium carbonate, creating a rough texture that provides excellent traction, making it safe to ascend the falls barefoot. This phenomenon is due to the high mineral content in the water, which deposits over time, forming a sticky surface.
Climbing the Waterfall: Visitors can ascend the waterfall barefoot. It’s advisable to start from the bottom and climb upwards. Some sections have ropes to assist with steeper areas. Be cautious of algae patches, which can be slippery.
Swimming: The base of the waterfall features natural pools with clear, cool water, perfect for a refreshing swim.
Nearby Attractions: A short walk from the top of the waterfall leads to Nam Phu Chet Si, a sacred spring and shrine surrounded by lush jungle. Visitors should dress modestly when visiting this site.
